So we headed off by bus 6 hours north of Hanoi to the town of Sa Pa. it’s 1500m above sea level and the whole time we were there it was in the clouds. It’s very cold here as you would imagine, never getting higher than 4 degrees. Lucky we had packed appropriate clothing. The home stay was comfortable and although there was no heating it did have a heated blanket!
On the second day we went for a days hiking down into the valleys and the rice fields and local villages. Our guide Pam was a local lady, very friendly and informative. The countryside was spectacular and we met some interesting company on the paths we took.
On our last day in Sa Pa the cloud lifted a little and we saw more of the town. Then a VIP bus back to hotel in Hanoi.
