Hoi An, town of lanterns

We have had 4 amazing days at Hoi An, we arrived from Da Nang a city to a much smaller fishing town with an ancient centre. The streets were so clean and tidy, the buildings immaculate and the people friendly. Our boutique hotel was fantastic too, all open plan dinning with a lovely view across the river and a bath!

Everywhere you look are lanterns, the boats are lit up and the building and street lamps are all lanterns. It’s very idilic and the atmosphere is strangely Mediterranean. On one morning we got up at 5pm to take a trip to My Son Sanctuary, an ancient Hindu site where the ruins of over a 1000 years remain to watch the sun rise.

The night life was buzzing with live music, night markets and lots of boats shining lights in the hot evenings. The restaurants were excellent and we are yet to have a poor meal. 2 courses with drinks usually sets us back at most £6.

We mentioned our food cooking class and the clothes we had made but Hoi An had so much more besides. The beaches were beautiful. We met up with Avinash and Terri and their girls from Ha Long bay boat trip on the beach for a lovely afternoon.

We would so recommend you come to this place, it’s tranquil and relaxing and nothing like you would expect but everything you would want.
