So we left Hanoi and travelled about 80 miles south to Ninh Binh for a days excursion and then stopped off for a couple of days rest!
We first visited the old capital of Vietnam within Ninh Binh province. Itโs called Truong Yen and we learnt some history of the area and how they lived. This area is known as Ha Long Bay on land because of the rock formations and resemblance to it.

After this we took pedal bikes for a short ride out into the countryside where we could see up close the rice fields and beautiful scenery.

After lunch we then had a couple of hours on a boat being rowed by the local people who used their feet to control the oars in a leg movement not dissimilar to when doing breast stroke. The landscape here on the Tam Coc river was so beautiful. We passed under several caves and enjoyed the tranquility in the sun.

Finally we entered the National Park area and climbed to the top of one of the rocks that overlook the valley and where we had the boat trip. From the top we face timed Harry who recalled fondly climbing on the dragons head at the very top 18 months earlier. We were glad not to of seen that.

At the end of this adventure we took a cab to our home stay in Ninh Binh where we intend to have at least 24 hours rest and relaxation.
All looks stunning!!
Ps – Al putting a serious face on in the Vietnamese hat doesnโt make you look any less silly ๐๐๐
