So after a nice flight from Siem Reap we reached Thailand and Phuket. We made an active decision to avoid Bangkok as we felt ‘templed out’ and the thought of relaxing was more appealing. The hotel we booked was 5 star and didn’t disappoint with the exception of the evening singing duo who were bloody awful and ran out of songs to sing!!

We had 3 lovely days there and after that we decided to move to a hotel on the beach for the final 2 days. I found a perfectly good hotel on the front but then Rach saw the sign below.

Not being a risk taker this was far too much for Rach. She said she would investigate alternatives while I was on the beach and her objective was completed when she elected to book us into the hotel next door BUT on the 5th floor so we would be alright if a Tsunami hit.

The following day we had booked to visit the Elephant Sanctuary. It was a short ride away and we were both looking forward to it a lot. However I must of eaten something dodgy the night before because after feeding the Elephants I became ill and was violently sick several times so I missed out on the swim and mud bath with them.

When your lying down not felling well having been sick many times, in the toilet out of site it’s amazing how conscious I was of other people talking about me. The most common comments being “ do you think he’s got coronavirus?” or “ If he’s got it then we’ve all got it” or “ shouldn’t come on a trip feeling like that mate” Yes thanks for your bloody sympathy cretins.
Needless to say I did recover after a sleepless night, for Rach, bless her. We spent a final day on the beach chilling and taking it very easy!

I’m with you about the tsunami protection Rachel. Can’t be too careful! Xxx
