Into Malaysia and Langkawi

We had booked to travel from Muk to Langkawi with tiger travel and islanders had said it was unreliable so when we got to the pier and all the other 20 plus passengers got onto another boat heading to Langkawi we were at a point of worry. We needn’t have because although 20 minutes late when it arrived the boat was an impressive speedboat with twin 250 outboard motors and we were the only passengers! So 2 hours at full pelt on the calmest Thai/Malay waters was a great way to travel. We stopped for an hour on Koh Lipe to go through immigration and passport patrol and then a short ferry to port in Langkawi and paradise.

Our hotel was fantastic, we were in a bungalow set in the rain forest which came down to the shoreline. The monkeys and wildlife really made this place special. We met some nice people whom we had dinner with in a superb local restaurant they recommended. One night we ate at the night market. We both dined on lots of good local cuisine for under £5 together. Fabulous

Langkawi is a really lovely island. We hired scooters to explore the island further visiting various wonderful beaches. The cable car goes high above the rain forest and is very steep but has super views of the bay where we stayed.

  1. Alan these photos are amazing. Rach did send lots of them to me but your trip is just incredible! Imagine having that speedboat to yourselves! I wonder how much that cost. You both look so happy. I can’t imagine you two ever being able to sit still now for too long after this trip. Loving your blogs and Rachel’s photos too. Stay safe xxxx
