Travelling to Ho Chi Minh City from Da Lat in our VIP luxury bus was suppose to be enjoyable and certainly the bus didn’t let us down. The driver on the other hand was as dangerous as we have seen and it wasn’t long before Rach was using the translator app to let him knowContinue reading “Ho Chi Minh City”

Da Lat
We had a fantastic flight to Da Lat on Vietnam Airways, much more comfort than easyJet, reclining seats and televisions. The flight took off 20 minutes early because everyone was on time, the plane made another 15 minutes with tailwind and our back packs were on the conveyor before we got there. We were inContinue reading “Da Lat”

Hoi An, town of lanterns
We have had 4 amazing days at Hoi An, we arrived from Da Nang a city to a much smaller fishing town with an ancient centre. The streets were so clean and tidy, the buildings immaculate and the people friendly. Our boutique hotel was fantastic too, all open plan dinning with a lovely view acrossContinue reading “Hoi An, town of lanterns”

The evenings are warm and the city comes to life with night markets and neon lights up theContinue reading “Da Nang”
And then the baby filled its nappy!!
You can’t organise a trip like this yourself without making the odd bad decision. An example of this was our choice of transport from Ninh Binh to De Nang, some 550 km. The Vietnamese holiday season was finishing so lots of people were travelling back home and as a consequence all the trains were booked.Continue reading “And then the baby filled its nappy!!”
Ninh Binh home stay
We settled down for relaxation time in our home stay in a bamboo hut with a lovely outlook, very peaceful and quiet where we were able to read, chill and do Thai Chi. We couldn’t stay still for too long so we hired a motorbike and rode to the tallest Pagoda in Vietnam and aContinue reading “Ninh Binh home stay”
Ninh Binh excursion
So we left Hanoi and travelled about 80 miles south to Ninh Binh for a days excursion and then stopped off for a couple of days rest! We first visited the old capital of Vietnam within Ninh Binh province. It’s called Truong Yen and we learnt some history of the area and how they lived.Continue reading “Ninh Binh excursion”
